International Diplomacy

Peace through Diplomacy

In 2012, PTPI Hampton Roads sought a new medium to promote peace through understanding. Our International Diplomacy branch allows our members to experience diplomacy in action through simulations and crisis scenarios, similar to those faced in the real world. As part of this, members first study a particular situation and position of either a country, a region, or a people in order to fully understand the context of crisis. Next, they refine their negotiating rhetoric, policy-writing skills and problem-solving abilities in order to solve many of the world's crises in hopes of improving our world.

The following PTPI Hampton Roads members have won awards at international diplomacy conferences on behalf of PTPI Hampton Roads:

Rachel Goretsky and Adriane Tomovic: Outstanding (Top) Delegation at the 1st Virginia High School Model Arab League representing Bahrain in the Social Affairs Council.

Mark Jamias: Outstanding (Top) Delegate at the 1st Virginia High School Model Arab League representing Qatar in the Political Affairs Council.

Yingying Huang: Honorable Mention Delegate at the 1st Virginia High School Model Arab League representing Qatar in the Joint Defense Council
